Been thinking that myself. Had them to-win it all back in Jan, but now they look dead and are the 2nd fav to win it all. Fishy and I’ll take the bait

Are you surprised?

They were a coasting team before the injuries, yet still looking pretty good. Best team in the west when healthy for sure

It’s actually better if they finish 7th. Then you get a fraudulent team Utah or Phoenix in the first round. Then probably the Clippers, who are coming off the worst choke in playoff history last season

Odds look about right

Fraudulent? How so?

I'll take Utah or Phx to make the Finals. Utah has been very good without Mitchell. Just shows how good that team is to keep winning without him. He should be back in a week or so. Chris Paul has been amazing this year. He seems to be on a mission. I think it's 1/2 seed chalk in the Western Conference Finals. Phx vs Utah.

What was fraudulent was the Lakers Covid "Bubble" Championship last year. I don't count it.

Don't count the Dodgers title either. 60 game season? That was an even bigger joke.

I think a lot of people don't take PHX or UTAH seriously. I think thats what he means by fraudulent. I'm kind of in the group as well. Two teams that were remarkably healthy all year playing great as teams trying to prove themselves. So nothing really fraudulent.

Meanwhile more "talented" teams like the Clippers, Lakers, Sixers, Bucks, Nets have not only had injuries, but held players out with any hint of an injury. They also load managed players and coasted at times. Their main focus has been getting to the playoffs healthy.

All of sudden in the playoffs the stars in the 2nd group of teams will be in the lineup every night with the starters playing more minutes with plenty of rest between games. They will be playing up to their full potential finally whereas it seems the Suns and Jazz have already been playing at their ceiling.

Regular season greatness doesn’t translate always to playoff success, especially if you don’t have enough start power. The Lakers are gonna have the two best players on the floor if they play the Jazz or Suns. The only shot either team has is if Lebron or AD is still seriously injured.

Chris Paul always plays well in the regular season and is always “on a mission.” that’s not gonna be enough when playing Lebron in the playoffs

Utah doesn’t have the ability to guard Lebron. Like who the fuck are they gonna put on him? Ingles and Bogs?

Utah and Phoenix remind me of the Raptors a few years back. 1 seed and got swept by Lebron and a JV team LOL

AD is overrated. Lebron is suddenly old. Both fighting through injuries. They are toast. You will see. They will get bounced early.

This thread is gonna be bumped by one of us down the road.. ;)

"Fraudulent" as in they are marketed as the top two teams in the conference, but in reality neither is a top two team

AD is about as good of a second option as you can have IMO but his flaw is more about injuries

Injuries are the one thing that can give a team like Utah or Phoenix hope. I think if LeBron and AD are both reasonably healthy, then neither team has a shot

You are right, it will get bumped lol

WOJ said LeBron ankle not gonna be right the rest of the year, but who knows, LeBron is a huge drama queen and that could be his people feeding that info to him.

I do like Clippers at +240 to win the west though. They're a better team than last year and as bad as that collapse was, it was kinda janky with the whole bubble thing.

Stop giving yourself an out. That's WEAK...

AD and Lebron aren't healthy. And they won't be. LA is toast. Early.

My gut is AD is relatively healthy and LeBron is more being cautious than anything, htough his ankle probably won't be 100% until the offseason. I think they'd rather be the 7 seed and play a team like Utah or Phoenix first, since those are easier match ups than the Clippers

Can't be a one, yet you're thinking Chris Paul can be the MVP of a championship caliber team? lol

Are you aware of the +/- win totals before and after Paul joins and leaves a team? I'm guessing you probably don't.

He's one of the most underrated players ever. That stat alone proves it.

OKC was trying to tank last season. And the guy single handedly ruined it. LOL

Great regular season player.

How many finals appearances does he have?

Lol the guy is objectively not as good as Lebron and AD

As good as Lebron? Of course not. As good as AD? LOL. AD could only dream of having the career that Paul has had. He will never get there. Too frail. Too beta.

Way too early to tell that. AD is young. though it’s safe to say already that AD will retire with more rings, unless CP3 runs to the Lakers before he retires

CP3 turns into quite a beta in the playoffs every year

And yeah; AD is better than CP3. No legit NBA follower thinks otherwise
